Protect Our Health: Speak Out Against Toxic Roundup Formulas

For years, people across the United States have raised serious concerns about the health and environmental effects of Roundup and other glyphosate-containing herbicides. Many individuals and families believe they have been harmed by exposure, while legal and regulatory decisions continue to shape what protections are available to communities.

Today, glyphosate-based chemicals are still used in forests, agricultural areas, and common spaces. Supporters of continued use often cite agricultural, forestry, and economic needs, but many community members question whether these practices adequately protect public health, wildlife, water, and the long-term well-being of future generations.

People throughout the Bay Area and across the country are speaking out for safer alternatives. Please join the effort to reduce and ultimately end the use of glyphosate-containing chemicals in our forests, fields, neighborhoods, and shared public spaces. Our future depends on the choices we make now.

Sincerely,
Ginger Souders-Mason

Read the source report: New Roundup Weedkiller 45 Times More Toxic to Human Health — Friends of the Earth

New Roundup lawn and garden products may contain chemicals that Friends of the Earth says pose greater long-term health risks than earlier glyphosate-based formulas.

The report identifies diquat dibromide, fluazifop-P-butyl, triclopyr, and imazapic among the active ingredients in newer Roundup products.

According to the analysis, these newer formulations are, on average, 45 times more toxic to human health during chronic exposure.

Some of these chemicals have been associated with concerns involving reproductive health, kidney and liver damage, neurotoxicity, and environmental persistence.

We can advocate for safer weed-management practices in our homes, public spaces, farms, and forests.
